How to Install Hero Rom on your G1

Installing HERO ROM after you've rooted your phone... if your not rooted go here first....
Ok, First you want to download the latest radio and install it (if you miss this part chances are you'll have a brick)
Now that you've downloaded the radio you need to install it...
1) Rename it to update.zip copy to the fat32 portion of your phone...
2) Power your phone off...
3) Power your phone on holding the home and end call buttons to get to the recovery...
4) hit ALT+S to install the new radio and follow it all the way through...
5) Reboot the phone and all it to boot completly back up...
6) Now go to Settings > About phone and see if your Baseband ends with 2.22.19.26I if it does your good....
Once you've downloaded and flashed the new radio then we can move on to installing the Hard SPL
1) Rename it to update.zip copy to the fat32 portion of your phone...
2) Power your phone off...
3) Power your phone on holding the home and end call buttons to get to the recovery...
4) hit ALT+S again to install it and again follow it all the way through...
After installing the new SPL don't even try and reboot... You'll just get stuck in the G1 loading screen... So before you can reboot or do anything else you will need either the HERO rom of your choice or another known working rom...
Now you will need to download and rename your rom to update.zip and place it on your fat32 portion of your sd card ...
you WILL need a card reader for this... unless you are running Cyanogens recovery 1.4... If you are running his new recovery you can copy the build to the sd card without renaming and flash it from the recovery...
Now do this...
1) Power your phone off...
2) Power your phone on holding the home and end call buttons to get to the recovery...
3) hit ALT+S to install the new rom of choice and allow it to install...
4) Reboot the phone and all it to boot completly back up... this boot may take 5 - 10 minutes (DO NOT PANIC)
Once it finishes booting you should be running whatever HERO build you've choosen! ENJOY!
